Pada tahun 1889, ketika hasil industri Jerman melampaui hasil pertanian, itu menjadi pembangkit tenaga listrik industri. Revolusi Industri, yang membutuhkan waktu hampir 100 tahun untuk diselesaikan Inggris, membutuhkan waktu kurang dari separuh waktu di Jerman.

Pada tahun 1999, teknologi hydrocracking sekunder diterapkan pada Riset & Pengembangan Produk. Semua produk perusahaan menggunakan minyak terhidrogenasi untuk memadukan produk minyak pelumas bermutu tinggi. Perusahaan pertama yang menggunakan oli dasar terhidrogenasi sekunder untuk memproduksi minyak pelumas pada periode yang sama dengan Mobil dan Shell.

Pada tahun 1996, dengan perkembangan industri yang berkelanjutan, laboratorium Munich mengembangkan jenis baru produk minyak kelas atas yang cocok untuk pelumasan peralatan industri modern, dan dengan peningkatan penjualan pelumas industri, pada tahun 2000, Norbert mengalihkan fokusnya ke pasokan minyak industri. Pada tahun 2006, penjualan minyak industri bahkan melebihi penjualan minyak otomotif.

Dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir, Norbert telah mempercepat ekspor produk khusus industri dan mendirikan kantor asing di banyak negara Eropa.
